I am at probably my 7th week in a row at the office, having now busily filled countless days with checking drudgereport, the superficial, facebook, and any countless number of other addictive habits. I am even back to checking my yahoo email account obsessively from my freshman year of college. I think I have one friend that still e-mails me there, a Thai monk living in Russia. He usually emails me when he needs financial help, me with the 10,000 credit card balance now at 25 percent because of ONE payment that was 5 days late. Assuaged by guilt for about a year or two now, I finally cranked in and helped him. I met him nine years ago during study abroad, so I guess it took me long enough. It is interesting though that people from other cultures think of the people that come into their lives as life long friends. I don't think here so much. So I am trying to be the life long friend that he expects. Funny thing, I wired him the money two weeks ago and haven't heard any acknowledgment, strange, but I guess doctoral students, or any student for that matter, is much busier than I have been.
Today we get the updated schedule for the office. Speaking of not busy people, our scheduler sends it out any time there has even been the most remote of changes. Today I was dismayed to find out that I will be working on a project with a girl who used to be my same level, but she was promoted, I was not. She is an imbecile, and to boot has the worst negative attitude of anyone I have ever met. I remember she came out to one of my jobs supposedly to help me, right beffore we were up for promotion and did absolutely nothing. I think she even slammed some papers on the floor that I had given her, and then never ended up even completing them. That I am working for her now should be an interesting change of events. ugh. I had initially thought they were going to let me do the job myself. =( I am not going to have a meltdown today over this. Our admin from the job that I had been working on and thus will not be going back to sans promotion, came over just now and gave me a hug, I guess maybe it has made it down to the admin level about my non-promotion. She is really sweet. Oh how nice it is that we at least have some human beings that function on a normal wave length at this firm. She fingers my LV bag, and was like I thought of you, I just bought two coach bags.
